Individual therapy for teens is what we offer the most of at Toronto Counselling Centre for Teens. It’s an excellent way for your teen to heal, grow and explore what’s happening for them. Individual counselling is great for both resolving concerns and for building self awareness, self knowledge, and capacity to express your needs. All of that translates into young people stepping into their most whole, best versions of themselves as they transition toward adulthood.
If you’ve done some deep diving on the internet about therapy or therapeutic approaches, you’ll find that there are many. This can be overwhelming to navigate. Here at Toronto Counselling Centre for Teens, we’d like to give you some advice on how to sort this out:
Most of the time, the important aspect of therapy to consider is whether or not the therapist is a good fit for your teen/family. For example, if your teen is into sports, arts, or books; they may respond well to a therapist that is also interested in those things.
We see a lot of great therapeutic pairings here when parents consider matching temperaments, intellects, styles, worldviews, interests, and cultures.
How does Individual Teen Counselling work?
Think of your teen’s first counselling session as a consultation that will allow our therapist to really get a handle of who your teen is and where they are coming from. We will assess the path forward, and create a plan and schedule that aligns with you and your teen’s needs and expectations.
Our goal is to work toward building a happier, less reactive family. Whatever help or guidance your teen needs, we will be there to support them. Sessions will allow them to explore their emotions and learn how to navigate difficult feelings and situations.
