Individual counselling is what we offer the most of at our Toronto Counselling Centres. It’s an excellent way for your teen to heal, grow and explore what’s happening for them. Personal Therapy is great for both resolving concerns and for building self awareness, self knowledge, and capacity to express your needs. All of that translates into young people stepping into their most whole, best versions of themselves as they transition toward adulthood.
If you have done some deep diving on the internet about teen individual therapy or personal therapeutic approaches, you will find that there are many centres in Toronto. This can be overwhelming to navigate. Here at Toronto Counselling Centre for Teens, we would like to give you some advice on how to sort this out:
Most of the time, the important aspect of individual therapy to consider is whether or not the therapist is a good fit for your teen/family. For instance, if your teen is into sports, arts, or books; they may respond well to a counselor that is also interested in those things.
We see a lot of great therapeutic pairings here when parents consider matching temperaments, intellects, styles, worldviews, interests, and cultures.
How does Individual Teen Counselling work?
Think of your teen’s first individual counselling session as a consultation that will allow our registered therapist to really get a handle of who your teen is and where they are coming from. We will assess the path forward, and create a plan and schedule that aligns with you and your teen’s needs and expectations.
Our goal is to work toward building a happier, less reactive family. Whatever help or guidance your teen needs, we will be there to support them. Sessions will allow them to explore their emotions and learn how to navigate difficult feelings and situations.
