Cheryl Wong
Cheryl is currently pursing a Master of Education in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Toronto. She brings with her a background in mentorship, crisis response, and behavioural intervention with youth facing challenges related to interpersonal relationships, academics, and identity. Through these experiences, Cheryl has witnessed the transformative power of creating a non-judgmental and affirming space—where people feel safe enough to explore emotions they may have long suppressed, opening the door to growth and healing.
Having personally experienced the difficulties, conflicts, and identity struggles that can arise when adapting to a new environment as a newcomer to Canada, Cheryl is especially passionate about supporting youth from diverse backgrounds. She looks forward to walking alongside teens as they explore who they are, navigate interpersonal relationships, and build a strong sense of self.
Cheryl’s therapeutic approach is collaborative and empowerment-focused, aiming to help youth develop tools to improve their relationships—with both themselves and others. Her work is informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), mindfulness-based approaches, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Relational-Cultural Theory.
In her free time, Cheryl enjoys walking around the city and capturing its unique moments through photography, or cooking up delicious dishes inspired by random recipes she discovers.
Cheryl can provide therapy in Cantonese or Mandarin if requested.
