Molly Read

RP

Molly’s background is in music and education. She worked as a cellist for several years in Montreal before moving to Toronto and prioritizing teaching. Over time, she came to realize that the relationships she enjoyed with her cello students and their families had become the most meaningful part of her work, which led her to a second career in psychotherapy. Molly’s years of volunteer work as a crisis responder at Kids Help Phone and her life at home with her husband and teenage kids fuel her love and appreciation for this age group, and her respect for all that today’s teens are carrying.

In sessions, Molly uses humour and empathy to connect with teens and their families as they struggle with the stressors that accompany peer connection, academic responsibilities, and change or loss in families and friend groups. Molly prioritizes the therapeutic relationship and is responsive to the unique presentation of each individual client and family.

Molly’s approach to counselling is relational, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and non-judgemental. Her therapeutic approach is informed by psychodynamic theory, Structural Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Molly also has experience with Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).

Outside of counselling, Molly enjoys spending time with her family, attending concerts, and writing heated letters to editors of various newspapers which she very rarely sends.

Molly sees individual teens, adults & parents as well as couples & families.
